FAQ: Can the electromechanical relays on the SeaConnect 370 reliably switch a micro-current signal after switching a medium load?
No, they cannot. Medium loads wear through the contacts’ gold plating, which is what enables the micro-current switching capability. Beneath the gold plating is a Palladium Ruthenium alloy (PdRu) that has a low material transfer characteristic and low welding tendency. After the gold plating wears away, the relay will work perfectly with medium loads up to 2 Amps, but can no longer switch small loads.
