Description
Control and monitor four optically isolated inputs and four Form C (SPDT) relay outputs via any USB connection with the 8112. Inputs can range from 5-30VDC and provide 3500VDC (2500VAC RMS) isolation to ground, while the high-current Form C relays can switch up to 6A loads at 250VAC and up to 5A at 60VDC. The Form C relays can be wired for either normally open or normally closed operation. Each Form C relay has a discrete common and each pair of inputs share a common. Status LEDs display I/O activity and field wiring is simplified via 3.5mm removable terminal blocks.
The SeaMAX software suite supports the SeaDAC Lite family and is designed to work with third party applications via the SeaMAX API. Sealevel’s SeaMAX software drivers and utilities make installation and operation easy using Windows and Linux operating systems.
The 8112 integrates Sealevel’s SeaLATCH locking USB port, which is fully compatible with standard USB cables. When used with the included USB cable with a SeaLATCH USB type B connector, the metal thumbscrew provides a secure connection to the device and prevents accidental cable disconnection.
SeaDAC Lite modules are housed in a rugged, attractive plastic enclosure ideal for mounting on walls, under counters, or inside panels. The 8112 is USB bus powered, so no external power supply is needed. Standard operating temperature range of SeaDAC modules is 0C to +70C and extended temperature range (-40C to +85C) is optional.

Excellent box for Linux & Win applications
We bought two because of Sealevel’s Linux support. We wanted a USB relay box that “just works” and looks good, and we were familiar with Sea’s products.
Because our host device is a Chumby (Linux on ARM), and some of the Sea-provided driver libraries were precompiled, it took several days of factory consultation to get the correct Ubuntu USB libraries for ARM. After that, it was a quick work to write an application to control and sense the relays and Opto inputs. Shoutout to the Sealevel eng support team for their help and followup.

Works well and looks good doing it.

Works Great with Blue Iris Security Software
I have been looking for a way to interface my in-place security system sensors with Blue Iris Security Software, for a couple of years. When Ken at Blue Iris came up with a software revision which allowed digital i/o, and suggested the SeaDAC Lite 8112, I decided to try it. Believe me, the installation couldn’t have been easier, and the results more positive. I couldn’t be happier! Just make sure you install SeaMax into your Blue Iris folder, as opposed to the default folder, or else Blue Iris won’t find it.

Just what I needed. 8112 USB digital I/O.
Was looking for a USB I/O device that would work with my software based security system to monitor some dual mode motion sensors. Works very well and triggers my camera recording perfectly. The motion sensing cameras previously got confused by bugs, rain, snow etc. No false triggers on the cameras any more. Just what the doctor ordered. Well built unit at a excellent price point. I can see other possibilities using this for process automation and control via VB or other off the shelf HMI products. I will seriously consider using SeaLevel products (e.g. 8222) in the future for some other projects I have on the go.

8112 Does the job
Sealevel staff responded to our needs, and got the product in our hands the next day so we had in hand before a long week so we could meet our client schedule. The product worked as promised.

Rugged deployment of the 8112 at a seaport
We installed a biometric system that uses palm vein scanning at a double turnstile at the port of Philadelphia. This was located outside and exposed to all sorts of weather from 105 F to -17F. We enclosed a rugged computer and the 8112 inside a Nema enclosure. With almost 1,000 transits per day the 8112 never gave a moments trouble.
As a company we like to use American made products wherever we can and the 8112 underscores the true value of made in America being rugged, reasonably priced and dependable.

Perfect for interfacing with PLC
The 8112 is a very handy tool when needing to interface custom applications with PLCs. It’s opto inputs and Form C outputs are perfect when dealing with 24V on/off signals, and gets you away from relying on RS-232 (not that that’s necessarily a bad thing). It’s small-compact design makes it ideal for medium to large-sized project boxes (like the ones found at radioshack), and also gives you confidence in its durability compared to competitors. Also, I haven’t seen a reliable competitor’s product that is as cost effective. Highly recommended.

Sealevel-BlueIris-X10
Am using the Sealevel 8112 with BlueIris to trigger an X10 PowerFlash moudule to run a macro in ActiveHomePro That turns on flood lights for 1 minute when BlueIris senses motion at my pond (Raccoons).
