Description
Add two Controller Area Network (CAN) Bus 2.0b ports to the Relio R1 industrial computer with the Kvaser Mini PCI Express adapter, item #104394. The adapter supports bit rates from 40 to 1,000 Kbps and CAN transfer rate up to 20,000 messages per second with a timestamp accuracy of 25 microseconds. The adapter offers silent mode, error frame detection and an on-board buffer. This makes the CAN bus adapter ideal for fleet management and monitoring of key parameters such as fuel economy, engine speed, braking and accelerator pressure, and gearshift patterns.
The low-profile connector complies with the mini PCI Express standard. A 7-pin Molex connector provides dual CAN channel access on the adapter. The adapter complies with EN 61000-6-2:2005, specifying EMC immunity for industrial environments and operates over a wide -40 to +85 C temperature range. The manufacturer provides a two-year warranty and software/SDK support for Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems.
When installed in a Relio R1 industrial computer, a custom cable connects the adapter to the carrier board and the CAN signals are available on a shared 12-pin removable terminal block (three wires per CAN channel). The CAN adapter includes a 10-inch cable with a single Molex to dual DB9M connectors, but it is not used or shipped with Relio R1 integrations.
