Sealevel Systems Introduces Multi-Interface PC/104 Serial Communications Adapter

January 27, 2003

Sealevel Systems, Inc. announces an addition to the company’s PC/104 product line: the SIO.104+2, a dual-port RS-232/422/485 interface adapter. Designed to meet the core needs of PC/104 applications requiring high reliability, small size, and long term availability, the SIO.104+2 is available in both standard and extended temperature range models.

Conforming strictly to the PC/104 specification, the SIO.104+2 provides two RS-232/422/485 ports, allowing field-selectable connection to a variety of real-world devices. Each port can be individually configured and offers automatic control of the RTS signal when using RS-485 mode.

The SIO.104+2 is designed using the XR16C850 UART, which supports standard PC data rates and boasts a top speed of 460.8K bps. The SIO.104+2 provides a 128-byte FIFO, 16 times larger than boards designed with 16C550 parts, to allow error-free operation even in high-speed applications

SIO.104+2 ships with Sealevel’s SeaCOM suite of Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP drivers. Sealevel also includes WinSSD, a full-featured application providing powerful testing and diagnostic capabilities. Use WinSSD for BERT (Bit Error Rate Testing), throughput monitoring, loopback tests, and transmit test pattern messages.

In addition to Windows drivers and utilities, SeaCOM includes drivers, utilities, application notes, and technical details to simplify installations in DOS, QNX, and LINUX.

Like all Sealevel products, the SIO.104+2 is backed by a lifetime warranty.
