New 16 Port PCI RS-232 Card

February 10, 2003

Sealevel Systems, Inc. announces the introduction of the COMM+16.PCI, a 16-port, PCI bus serial I/O adapter that offers the highest serial port count available in a PCI format.

The COMM+16.PCI provides 16 RS-232 ports, allowing connection to PLCs, bar code readers, scales and other data acquisition/control devices.

Designed using the XR16C850 UART, the COMM+16.PCI supports standard PC data rates and boasts a top speed of 460.8K bps. The board provides a 128-byte FIFO, 16 times larger than boards designed with 16C550 parts, to allow error-free operation even in high-speed applications.

Connection to the board is made through two high-density 68-pin connectors. Two single fan-out cables provide a connection to each serial port through individual DB-25 male connectors for a total of 16 ports. The COMM+16.PCI also features a Universal Bus as required by PCISIG specification 2.3, allowing compatibility with today’s new 3.3V computers as well as older 5V systems.

COMM+16.PCI ships with Sealevel SeaCOM suite of Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP drivers. Sealevel also includes WinSSD, a full-featured application providing powerful testing and diagnostic capabilities. Use WinSSD for BERT (Bit Error Rate Testing), throughput monitoring, loopback tests, and transmit test pattern messages. In addition to Windows drivers and utilities, SeaCOM? includes drivers, utilities, application notes, and technical details to simplify installations in DOS, QNX, and LINUX.

Like all Sealevel products, the COMM+16.PCI is backed by a lifetime warranty.
