Overview
An established operator of public safety companies across the United States specializes in visual and facial recognition software. Their technology is deployed for law enforcement agencies, emergency services, security installations, municipal infrastructure, and government associations. The software and associated embedded controllers are used in conjunction with camera systems for instant, automatic access data access. The operator-integrator relied on an internationally-sourced device for computer control of this application. However, they began experiencing performance and delivery issues with their existing solution.
The public safety company actively sought out Sealevel for an American-made – and supported – industrial computer with configurable I/O to support a range of cameras and other peripheral equipment. Specifically, they requested an i3 Core processor and a variety of computers to meet their different installation needs with the same footprint and proven performance.

The Solution
The Sealevel design and applications teams met with the company’s electrical engineers to further define the requirements and the nuances of the I/O needed for a variety of installations. Ultimately, Sealevel recommended – and the customer implemented – two different Flexio computers. Depending on the application, the customer uses the Flexio Fanless Industrial Embedded Computer that includes expansion in the form of (4) optically isolated inputs and (4) Form C relays or a similar Flexio that incorporates (4) USB ports. The Flexio’s (3) USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type A ports and single USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C port provide the speed required for cameras while the additional USB, inputs, and other relays integrate with additional peripherals. Standardizing on the Flexio family of computers reinforced the company’s demands for long-term availability, alongside the desire to deploy the solution to unseat existing technology quickly. Sealevel successfully fulfilled initial quantity requests and, as with all products, is committed to manufacturing the computers for the life of the company’s programs across public safety and security.
