OEM

We are committed to the design and manufacturing of quality critical communications hardware and software, dedicated to providing OEM partners with reliable products, exceptional service and on-time delivery. Using a design for certification approach, our team begins with the end in mind, carefully evaluating the applications for our products across industries to ensure we meet all I/O, processing, environmental, safety, and security requirements.

An OEM Partner with Decades of Experience

Sealevel has worked with major OEMs, across many industries, since our founder designed the first RS-422/485 communication adapter for the IBM PC in 1984. With a commitment to Made in the USA and long-term availability, we partner with OEMs and industry leaders to meet their specific application needs through our standard product line and custom design and manufacturing capabilities.
Our in-house Engineering department includes hardware, software, mechanical, layout, compliance and test engineering teams. Our hardware design engineers specialize in complex computing and I/O design, excelling in SWaP optimization and functional density application.
With a “design for certification” approach, Sealevel’s manufacturing and engineering teams collaborate closely from concept to official production. Sealevel manages the entire product development, manufacturing, testing and packaging cycle. Some of the major benefits to OEMs include:

Detailed and Realistic Budgeting

Sealevel’s program managers work closely with our engineering team, manufacturing team, and master planner to map out the requirements of every product. Our procurement team also works to ensure any specific security, parts traceability, or other requirements beyond our standard practices are addressed. From the earliest engineering concepts to manufacturing and support beyond shipment, the Sealevel team is on standby.

Design for Certification Approach

Sealevel’s manufacturing and engineering teams collaborate from concept to official production. This approach allows us to manage the entire product development process as our engineers guide our hardware solutions through regulatory procedures and official certification. Our team of electrical, mechanical, compliance & test, and software engineers incorporates manufacturability, size, weight, and power (SWaP) optimization, parts traceability, and high reliability into every product.

In-House Manufacturing With A Lifetime Warranty

Sealevel designs and manufactures all of our products at our US headquarters. Each product is subject to the highest quality standards and superior test procedures under ISO 9001:2015. This design for certification approach enables us to manage the product development process as our engineers guide our hardware solutions through regulatory procedures and official certification, through each stage of a product lifecycle.

High Vibration Tolerance & Compatibility for OEM Controllers

Tuftco began implementing Sealevel’s I/O in their systems in the 1990s, beginning with ISA cards. They have migrated to PCI in response to upgraded controller technology. Tuftco has used a combination of Sealevel serial and digital I/O for controlling yarn delivery, cutting, proximity monitoring and tufting. Today, they rely primarily on Sealevel’s 7202 PCI serial interface.

COM Express Simplifies Custom System Development for OEM Applications

Engineers are always looking for a better way to design OEM systems. They may consider a fully custom design that can meet all their application requirements but time and cost for the development can be a major hurdle. Using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products remedies those problems, but often requires compromising system functionality, size, product lifetime and even reliability. So what to do? At Sealevel, we believe the answer is an architecture that blends the best benefits of custom design and COTs: COM Express.

PCIe Mini Card Synchronous Serial Interface

Connecting modern computer equipment to proprietary, often old, infrastructure is a common requirement in military applications. Sealevel worked with a manufacturer of a rugged, military computer server to design an interface to radio modems installed in aircraft. The radio modems use a proprietary, synchronous protocol as the host interface with little documentation available and no opportunity for modification.

Sealevel Expertise

Sealevel’s in-house team has more than 35 years of experience of developing products for military, government, commercial customers, and OEMs. Our design for certification approach means that manufacturing and engineering teams work hand in hand from concept to official production.

In House Manufacturing

All product design and assembly takes place at our ISO 9001:2015 registered manufacturing facility, located in the United States of America. All board-level assembly and testing take place at Sealevel using our state-of-the-art Surface Mount Technology (SMT) line. All products are visually screened using Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) and 100% of the functionality is tested before shipment.

Design for Certification

Sealevel’s design for certification approach enables us to manage the entire product development process as our engineers guide our hardware solutions through regulatory procedures and official certification, ensuring all I/O, processing, environmental, safety, and security requirements are met. All designs are put through in-house evaluations and pre-certification analysis, reducing time to market as well as costs for our customers.

Collaboration

All of the individual departments of Sealevel work closely together, throughout each phase of product development. A dedicated program manager works closely with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, quality control, shipping and logistics, application engineering, and master planning teams to manage every step of the process – from concept all the way to the delivery of the final product.

Made in USA

Our manufacturing facility is co-located with our headquarters in Liberty, South Carolina. Sealevel has never moved manufacturing outside of the USA, allowing us to maintain our rigorous control and quality standards. Our leadership remains committed to employing American labor and giving back to the country – and neighbors – that have given so much to us.
