Overview
A leading provider of process automation control systems across the Mid-Atlantic region focuses on solutions for medical and drug product manufacturing– specifically pharmaceutical testing. Working on a project-by-project basis, this integrator designs and implements control and automation systems for these end users in pharmaceutical manufacturing, pharmaceutical packaging, and research and development.
The integrator’s customers require robust, highly reliable I/O for pharmaceutical stress, stability, and sterility testing. Not only do the actual pharmaceutical testing systems necessitate fail-safe I/O for expansion, but the facilities themselves are subject to rigorous environmental requirements and compliance.

The Solution
To meet serial communications expansion needs within the test systems, Sealevel’s team recommended the 4803 Ethernet to Serial Server. This 8-port Ethernet serial server enables easy connection of RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 peripherals to the preferred Ethernet network. And, with Sealevel’s SeaLINK software drivers, installation and operation is easy – and fast.
For temperature monitoring within the pharmaceutical manufacturing and testing facilities, the customer relies on the 470E Ethernet data acquisition device. They use the analog inputs to monitor temperature and other ambient conditions before transferring the readings back to a host controller. This ensures the drug products are staying within safe environmental conditions while under test.
