Sealevel Recognized for Top Performance & Charitable Giving

November 2, 2012

Sealevel received third place in the Roaring Twenties Awards for top performing companies in South CarolinaLast week, Sealevel was named one of the top performing companies in the state. We are proud to announce that Sealevel placed third among the twenty large businesses nominated. In the large business category, companies must show a gross revenue of more than $10 million and be headquartered in South Carolina. Final rankings were based on revenue and growth.

On November 1, Sealevel was recognized as the Philanthropic Spirit Award winner during a ceremony in Greenville. The award is presented by Community Foundation, TOWN Magazine and the Greenville Journal to a business that fosters charitable giving through employee incentive programs and is dedicated to giving back to the Upstate in a significant manner.

Sealevel takes pride in helping organizations that support the arts, children and education. Through funding and hands-on volunteerism, we believe that we have an obligation to improve the communities we live in so that future generations can enjoy the best quality of life possible. In 2012 we have sponsored a number of groups that share our community spirit.

Each August Sealevel rolls out the red carpet for a weekend of food, wine and music at Euphoria. The festival, created by singer-songwriter Edwin McCain and local restaurateur Carl Sobocinski, benefits local non-profit organizations throughout the Upstate. In March, we also partnered with Euphoria to bring Sealevel spokesperson Chuck Leavell to Greenville for a one-night concert.Ben O'Hanlan, Sealevel president, with Dick Riley, former SC governor and US Secretary of Education

As part of our outreach to the children in our community, we work with The Family Effect, an organization that works to reduce addiction as a leading cause of family collapse and harm to children in South Carolina. In addition to providing sponsorships, Ben serves as board chair for The Family Effect.

Each Christmas, Sealevel employees “adopt” children from Helping Hands, an emergency shelter and foster home for abused and neglected children, and purchase gifts of clothing, toys and other necessities.

We are actively involved with local schools to provide support for the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program, the FIRST robotics team, and athletics. During the June graduation ceremony, Sealevel recognized Liberty High School valedictorian Amanda Nichole Ivester with both math and science scholarships. We pledged a $50,000 endowment to establish the Sealevel Systems, Inc. Annual Scholarship for students in the College of Engineering and Science at Clemson University. We were also proud to sponsor The Children’s Museum of the Upstate’s Power Up Summer Camp, which provides hands-on learning activities for 1st through 5th graders.

Philanthropist Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen said, “Giving is a universal opportunity. Regardless of your age, profession, religion, income bracket, and background, you have the capacity to create change.” We challenge our employees, customers, distributors, and partners to create change within our communities.
